Tourism Futures National Conference 2009
Tourism Australia, Tourism Queensland and Gold Coast Tourism are staging the seventh National Conference on Tourism Futures from 17-19 August 2009 at the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa, the Gold Coast.
The Conference takes a forward perspective on the industry, looking out over a ten year timeframe and examining opportunities and issues for the future. The 2009 conference theme is ‘Redefining the Future’ and will examine the ‘over the horizon’ trends and opportunities that are reshaping the future of Australian tourism.
The Tourism Futures National Conference 2008 offset 1.56 tonnes of CO2-e through Greenfleet accredited under the Department of Climate Change’s Greenhouse Friendly program (calculated by GHD: Sustainability & Climate Change division). The 2009 gas emissions footprint will also be offset at the conclusion of the conference.
The Tourism Futures National Conference 2009 will feature an outstanding array of international and local speakers. One of the keynote addresses will be “Product Development of the cruise industry over the next 10 years” by Ann Sherry, CEO of Carnival Australia. “Carnival Australia has achieved some impressive results with Ann Sherry at the helm, and we are looking forward to hearing how it has tackled the current challenges with such overwhelming success,” said Mr Tony Charters, Tourism Futures conference convener.
