I was in Maumere for 2.5 years with the VSO helping a local NGO with livelihood projects. We had quite an involvement with Ikat either with natural dyes and/or chemical, the chemical option being more and more common as the natural resource reduces in availability. One village where introducing a programme of planting makudo, but it’s difficult to farm. I loved the Flores people and wish them a healthy future.

I’m Charlie Ventura from Philippines and i will be coming to Indonesia by June 5, 2010 and I will be staying in Bali for 2 months and go directly to Flores Island to work with farmers for livelihood programs of VSO (international NGO). Hope I can meet all of you and be part of your development.
